Do's and Dont's of driving

  1. Stay in Traffic Speed limits and slow down on Turns.
  2. Look Left and Right twice, and go slow on Crossings.
  3. When Turning Left... Look at the Rearview mirror, give Indicator, sound Horn, and take turn while staying in your lane (Try to stick to the side)
  4. When Turning Left... Look at the Rearview mirror, give Indicator, sound Horn, and take turn while staying in your lane.(Try to take a wider turn)
  5. Stay in your Lane, and use the correct Signals. Don't leave your line.
  6. Notice all the Traffic Signs you see on your way, and act apropriately.
  7. When taking Circles... give way to your right.
  8. Don't assume that the other Motorists known your intention. It is always necessary to give proper Signals while Starting, Turning, Slowing, and Parking your vehicle.
  9. On crossings without control system (Traffic Lights), give adequate opportunity to Pedestrians (the people walking on the road) to avoid accidents.
  10. Be careful of Pedestrians who come from between vehicles(ie. not on zebra crossing), outside Schools and Bus Stops.
  11. When crossing Animal-driven Vehicles, give enough place by slowing down, and Do Not Sound Horn, because it may scare the Animal and it may run away.
  12. (a)When the road is divided by White Lines, then stay to the left. If needed, you may cross the line.
    (b)When the road is divided by Yellow Lines, then stay to the left. You shall, in any case, not cross the line.
  13. It is mandatory for every motorist to give way immediately to any Ambulance or Fire Engine. It is a duty of each citizen, for the sake of saving lives.
  14. Without permission of a Policeman on Duty, nobody is allowed to drive vehicles on special pathways made for Cycles or Pedestrians.
  15. 'U' turn - The driver must be careful, and should confirm it is safe to turn by looking in the rearview mirror. U turns are not allowed on busy roads. Proper signal for turning right must be given.
  16. Be careful and look on the road when taking your vehicle out of garage.Take someone's help if necessary.
  17. Park your vehicle only where parking is allowed. Do Not park in places like: Crossings, Turns, Corners, High speed ways, Corners of hilly roads, footpath, Bus Stop, School, Railway gate, opposite direction to road, specially at night.
  18. During Night, when a Vehicle, Cycle, or Animal Driven Vehicle approaches you, turn your headlights to 'dim' position and keep your vehicle slow.
  19. Never park a vehicle on a Railway Line. When crossing a Railway without a Gate, listen carefully and look around to see if a Train is coming. Go further only when confirmed
  20. The Horn shall not be used unnecessarily repeatedly, and annoyingly. It shall not at all be used in silent zones like Hospitals,etc. Cut-outs and Multi-Horns are not allowed. No unusual sounds from a moving vehicle will be allowed.
  21. Keep appropriate distance from the Vehicle moving ahead of you, so that there is enough place to stop your vehicle without damage, in case the vehicle ahead stops abruptly.
  22. Give importance to Vehicle ahead of you when driving on a hill or on a slope. In this case, when the road is not wide enough to allow overtaking, give space to any vehicle overtaking, by stopping your vehicle to a side. It is advised not to overtake in intense situations on hilly roads.
  23. The motor vehicle driver must not allow any passenger or object to be placed in such a way that the driver's control over the vehicle is reduced.
  24. While crossing any demonstrations, or Army or Police Force(on foot), or any Road Construction site, speed should not exceed 25 km/h
  25. Seating passengers more than allowed by the Registration Certificate is prohibited and can be Penalised.
  26. Vehicles are not allowed to use any non-standard explosive, dangerous, polluting, fuel (like Aviation fuel, etc.)

Any violations can be Penalised by us, or can prove fatal to you or your passengers, or to other people on the Road. Remember, these rules are a question of Life and Death, a question of humanity.

Remember, accidents can take place not just because of your own mistake, but of some other driver's too. So, it is good to be alert of the driving of other people as well as your own.
