The Organization
Traffic Police is responsible for safe and smooth traffic in Jaipur
city with 3.5 million population, and .5 million vehicular population.
It is manned by 800 employees, with Suprintendent of Police
as the head of the organization and one Addl. S.P. as second in
command to aid and assist him. Other officers include Dy.
S.P.'s, Inspectors, Sub. Inspectors, Asstt. Sub. Inspectors, Head
Constables and Constables at different levels.

Functions of Traffic Police
Enforcement
The Traffic Police Jaipur city is the main enforcement
agency of the traffic rules under the Government of India Motor
Vehicle Act of 1988.
Education/Awareness
We are also responsible for creating awareness regarding traffic
sense/rules among the citizens of Jaipur city. This is done by organising
training camps, workshops and distributing pamphlets among children
and seniors. We also take help of print and electronic media in
our pursuit. We are also aided by the Traffic Wardens, School children,
NCC Cadets, and numerous NGO's. We are also responsible for Education
and Oriention of new Personnel.
Investigation of Accident cases
The Traffic Police Jaipur City also investigates cases pertaining
to road accidents. For this purpose there are two Accident Police
Stations with Traffic Police which are headed by the respective
Inspectors.
Engineering
The Traffic Police also recommends changes to the roads' engineering
to the PWD, JDA and the Municipal Corporation.

Other Agencies
involved in traffic control
JDA or the Jaipur Development Authority is responsible
for maintainence of roads, traffic signs, removal of encroachments
outside the walled city.
The PWD or the Public Works Department undertakes
construction of Road Lights, Road maintainence, Road Signal Lights,
and Roads.
The JMC or the Jaipur Municipal Corporation / Nagar Nigam
Jaipur looks after maintainence of roads, road lights, and
removal of encroachments on the roads inside the walled city.
The Transport Department manages Vehicle Registration, Driver License,
Special Permits, and also frames Policies for Traffic control.
The Traffic Control Board has been constituted by the Government
of Rajasthan for deciding the broader policy framework and management
of traffic within Jaipur city.
